In my personal experience, I have not seen a lot of mainstream media or music that showcases the culture and community of Indigenous peoples. I believe that being aware of traditional music and how it empowers an ethnic group, out of your own, which mine comes from a Chicana perspective. Being Mexican with background connections to Indigenous Guanajuato's tribes, makes me even more intrigued to learn about more American tribes and their culture, and how I and others can apply that to their own ethnic group. Sharing Indigenous perspectives through music that uplifts them while also challenging colonizer's false narrative.
